Somewhere along the way of my childhood I learned to be grateful. Even in prayer I learned not to just ask for things, but to be thankful for what I had already received.
It wasn’t until I was into my 20″s that I was introduced to the idea of having a formal gratitude practice and to be thankful for the things that are still coming. The things I had not yet received. Moving further into my 20’s I met a wonderful friend who taught me so much and she was the one that introduced then to the idea of a gratitude challenge in November. I can’t even remember now what the original challenge was as it has changed and morphed over the years to what it is today.
If you get my weekly newsletter, this Sunday you will receive a great worksheet to get you started. Sign up today at kimberlydubrul.com if you’re not on the list!
The rules are these:
Starting November 1, or whatever day you see this, write 10 gratitudes each day. During Thanksgiving week you will write 25 each day and on Thanksgiving Day you will write 100! These are handwritten. If it sounds like a lot, it sounded that way to me once, too. It is a challenge, after all! It is still a challenge for me each year, but I do it, and you can, too!
I hope you will join me.
Another reminder today- with two month left in 2024, it is the perfect time to consider how you want to finish this year. How you finish will determine how you begin 2025. Another thing I was taught by great people while in my 20’s is that the next year really begins in November. Everything I am doing in November, for the most part, will create results I will realize in the new year.
Remember to ask yourself what went well in October- there may be some gratitudes in there! What didn’t go so well, and what would you like to do differently in November bases on what you have learned. Here’s to a strong finish leading to a strong start!
