The 100 Day Challenge, Day 42:
Here’s a Thinking Question from John Maxwell’s book Thinking for a Change:
Am I working to break out of my “box” of limitations so that I explore ideas and options to experience creative breakthroughs?
This question makes me think about all of the times I might already have an idea about something, that causes me to miss new ideas, good creative ideas that might take me in some exciting new directions. I like the open mindset of questioning the way I habitually think about things. We each have a habit about how we think about things, and about people. One thing that I have learned in over 10 years of coaching is that people change and situations change. When we are unwilling to see changes in others, and impose our old mindset of the way we always saw them in the past, we miss out. When we refuse to see how things change around us, we miss the boat and get left behind.
For the remainder of this week- question the way you think about things. Look at things in the opposite way from the way you are thinking about it, just to see what that might look like. Decide, just for the rest of the week to remain open minded to ideas that you hear and that others are presenting to you. Just for this week, practice seeing things from someone else’s point of view. It doesn’t mean you have to agree on everything, what you will gain is extra insight and understanding with which to create so much- you have no idea of all of the great ideas you have yet to think?
