There’s a good chunk of summer left- what would it mean to elevate the space you have created, maybe from taking a vacation from anger or other related emotions (see last week’s blog post), or other space that has opened up this summer?
No space opened up? Traded another season’s busyness for summer busyness? This is the place to start. Summer is a great time to decide, temporarily even, what is really important. What can you put on the September list to free up some time for thinking, recreation, nature, reading, writing, and just being. Maybe playing more corn hole?! Between now and the end of August, what are the very most important priorities? Hand write a list of EVERYTHING that is on your list and then decide on the very few crucial things, delegate some to others, and save the rest for the fall.
I am going to advocate filling space with spirit filled, spirit-full, uplifting, inspiration. I encourage you to try something that might even put you out of your comfort zone. How might you do this? Start meditating, or meditate more if you already do. Write Morning pages each morning. (Google Morning Pages for a full description.), pray a morning prayer each day like one by the Dalai Lama called A Precious Human Life (google, it comes right up), consistently take walks in nature, take a spirit-full class like yoga or go to church. You could read a book (I am including some good suggestions in this week”s newsletter- sign up at KimberlyDuBrul.com to receive it.) Listen to spirit filled music, take a class, view great works of art, try something new, have a high level or deep conversation or two with someone.
The question is, what fills your spirit? If you know, make a plan to do more of it for the next 6 weeks. If you don’t know, this is the time to take space with pen and paper and just sit and think and breathe. Put yourself in a beautiful setting- that will already help you to feel uplifted. Surrounding yourself with beauty is so spirit filling.
Make your plan, put it into your schedule and stick to it. Adding this things in over 6 weeks will impact you and others in a positive way. Experiment, see how you feel, keep going!
