The 100 Day Challenge, Day 34:
Making changes takes a focused mindset- focused on what you want to be true: your vision. Self discipline is heavily involved in this, but my belief is that unless you have that vision, it is impossible to have self discipline. At the heart of self discipline are the tiny little decisions, choices, and actions you make every minute of the day. Without your big vision, clearly defined, those choices have no real meaning. You might make the right choices in this moment, but later when you are tired, or someone has been negative, or when something doesn’t go as planned, you might have a hard time staying the course.
Self discipline is defined as training, practice, activity- amongst other things. The only way to make a change is to do it differently over and over and over again. the hardest part is to start something, it gets easier and easier the longer you stick with your plan.
Do yourself a favor- get your vision defined instead of continuing to beat yourself up for not sticking to what you said you were going to do. Figure out what’s important about succeeding- write it down, tell people, get accountability, and employ your self discipline in the middle of all of this. You know what to do, now put the action and self discipline behind it.
