This is more evident to me than ever- time is precious. I heard recently that being busy is just a way to avoid truly being with yourself. Truly being with yourself is the route to living your fullest, happiest life.
So, you might be shortchanging yourself.
Consider this post your reminder to take a review of what you are doing with your time. The quote by Tom Bilyeau still impacts me each day- “what you do with your time should be of spiritual consideration.” To me, that means, it better be a very lofty, vital use of my time, or else I shouldn’t be doing it.
For sure, you want to be mindful of what you are doing. Do a daily review- when you get to the end of a day are you left with a feeling of satisfaction and a day well-lived? If not, what would have been better for you? What are going to do differently tomorrow?
You get to control whether your precious time slips through your hands, or not. Even if you are doing something you would rather not do, you have the choice of attitude to make the most of those moments, as well.
What actions need to be stopped? What do you dream of, but never do? What is vital to your happiness? What things when you do them put you into alignment with who you really are? How much longer do you want to wait?
Learn to say no to others, even just a little more, and say yes to yourself. When you have work to do, projects to finish, an important to do list full of good things to do that make your life better and you say yes to other things, you are sending the message to yourself that what you want is not important.
Right now I am in the midst of taking a few weeks break from social media. Talk about gaining back precious time! Do you know how much time you spend on social media each week? How much is it adding to the quality of your life? I challenge you to also take a break for a few weeks- long enough to notice the difference. So far I am getting a lot more reading done- one of my highest priorities!
Where else could you improve your use of time? There are so many great ideas out there, so many books. Read them for inspiration, but you already know what your next step is. When will you begin?
Decide now to start working on living your best life. The saying goes- the best time to start was years ago, the second best time is now.
