The 100 Day Challenge, Day 29:
You speak yourself into your reality. Monitoring your thoughts to stay focussed and positive, that’s one thing, but what comes out of your mouth- whoa! Watch out.
Your brain thinks that your voice is the smartest voice ever. Supreme ruler of all things known. So, whatever you speak out loud, your brain latches right on to it and believes it to be true. The more times you repeat it, the truer it gets.
This is all good if what you are saying supports you, uplifts you and is what you really want to be true. Where this becomes a challenge for transformation is when you continuously speak about what’s not perfect, what isn’t working and putting yourself down. What you speak becomes your reality. Words are so powerful.
A simple way to begin transforming any part of your life to start speaking about it in the way you want it to be true. This can be done in normal conversation, and to add a boost, personal affirmations are the way to go! This is the way to be on purpose for at least part of the day about what you are speaking.
An affirmation is a statement of truth and said outloud with plenty of positive emotion they are life changing. One book I have always loved in this area is I Can Do It, by Louise Hay www.hayhouse.com. The book gives you plenty of examples to get you started in every area of your life.
I like to have my clients use just a few affirmations at a time and focus on those. Too many can be overwhelming. If you really want to impact your brain and beliefs there are a couple of other things you can do with your affirmations besides speaking them outloud several times a day. You can get the brain and hand writing connection working for you by writing out each affirmation 10 times per day. You also record yourself saying your affirmations and listen to them several times per day. I started doing this when there were no cell phones, yet I was driving along speaking out my affirmations- probably looking pretty silly to the outside world. Now you can do it and it just looks like an enthusiastic conversation on the phone! The more you do consistently with affirmations, the faster they start to work.
Here are a few examples for the book I Can Do It:
I give myself the gift of freedom from the past, and move with joy into the now.
I think big, and then I allow myself to accept even more good from life.
My talents are in demand, and my unique gifts are appreciated by those around me.
I am discovering talents I did not know I had.
Working together is part of the purpose of life. I love the people I work with.
My life gets more fabulous every day. I look forward to what each new hour brings.
Change your words, change your thoughts! You can do it!
