“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”  Howard Thurman

This is one of the best quotes, to me, as a coach. The best thing I get to see is my clients uncovering or expanding the best in themselves and then sharing it with the world. That is why I love to work extensively with the VIA Character Strengths– it tells us who we are as a person and going deeper into how the results are true is enlightening.

Being yourself without guilt or any negative feelings is a strong route to being your happiest self.

I asked several questions in this week’s YouTube video and here are a few more-

How do you express your authentic self in your life?

How might you?

How did you used to?

How might you expand what you are already doing?

What are the times when you are playing small, deferring or abandoning yourself?

Get a journal and pen and explore your answers.

As you think about your answers, think about how these things increase your happiness and to your wellbeing.

And celebrate either the doing of self expression or your new discovery. Of course, making a plan on the spot as you write and getting it into your calendar- at least the first step, is the way to assure a shift. It really does start with one step. Everything can shift with one step.

Who can support you and cheer you on? Find this person or people– this is very important.

When you are yourself, you are in a better position to help others, to make a positive impact. It saps energy to try to be what others think you should be, OR what YOU think you SHOULD be. (Some of you know how I feel about the word should.)

You come alive in life when you are true to yourself. Enjoy the exploration and experimentation.
