If you are reading this, you are probably an adult. As adults, we have the freedom to do what we want to do. And we like to exercise that freedom!
But sometimes that freedom comes back to bite us. As I spent 19 years growing a real estate business as I real career, I noticed something particular about many who entered the business, especially as a second or third career. They were looking for freedom. “No one will tell me what to do, I will be in charge of my own time, my own life.”
The problem is that without structure and by staying devoted to the freedom, many were not successful in making any money. They subscribed to thoughts like “I have spent years having someone tell me what to do, now it’s my turn.” There was no accountability and no strict plan to follow. They liked the thought “if I don’t feel like it, I won’t do it. I’ll do it when I feel like it.” That time rarely comes with things we don’t feel like doing.
If you run into things in your day- be it the dishes or a project or your exercise routine and you don’t feel like doing it- congratulations! You a human being. The important thing is to start getting brave enough to ask yourself WHY don’t you feel like doing it?
So many people have goals and dreams- they are real and they want them. Yet, they are easily stopped from taking actions that will move them in the right direction. The only way to find out why is to be willing to ask yourself that question, to get real with yourself and to do the work necessary to change- only if you want your best life.
Everyday we are faced with things we don’t feel like doing. We either do not do them and end up feeling badly about ourselves (oh, and the thing doesn’t go away and sometimes even grows) OR we do them anyway and we get the reward of feeling good afterward- EVERY single time. Feeling good is good for you! Feeling badly, is not. What is your goal- to feel good or bad? Because you hold the key.
