December is about clarity, capacity and peace. The last two weeks I wrote about the first two.
Clarity– it takes time to think and the willingness to be real with yourself.
Capacity– it can come from first getting clear! Start to plan with clarity and you will find more capacity than you knew you could have. That is never more important than during the holiday season. Whether it is a to-do list that doubles in length, or challenging family situations that threaten to take every ounce of your energy- creating more capacity is helpful in all ways.
Once you start to create more capacity, you get to enjoy some peace. Peace comes from being organized and focused in your thinking. It comes from you understanding what you are capable of and what you are not. What you can control and what you can not. Peace comes from the clarity to say yes or no, mindfully, and the capacity to feel certain about it.
I have mentioned it here in my blog before and here it is again! I bring you…
The Serenity Prayer
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
This week:
Ask yourself what you really need and want in order to feel peaceful. What would have to happen in order to feel peaceful. Don’t just think about it, write down your answers.
Notice how many of the things you write down are things you can not control. Which can you control? What can you do this week to take steps toward the things you can control and to let go, at least in some way, to the things you can not.
You deserve peace and it is available to you. Choose and allow it.
Merry Christmas, if you are celebrating this season. Bring on the peace.
