Happy New Year!
Here we are, in 2023. The swirl of talk about resolutions is everywhere. Some excited, some downright nasty regarding the word resolutions.
Being resolute means that you feel something is so important to you, you are not willing to waver. I heard someone yesterday say that taking on resolutions means that you are making yourself wrong about 2022 and that you were not okay or you were broken in 2022.
There’s a resolute opinion.
The truth is, in the end, words mean what they mean to us, personally. Being willing to use a growth mindset and entertain other options is a great way to experience more and better in life.
I personally feel that the beginning of a year is a great time to make changes or even one change- we live by a calendar year, so it is just natural for us as human beings. Making a resolution about something means we are serious and we want change. Something hasn’t been working in the past OR we want to expand something and make it even better.
What if you WERE actually wrong in 2022? Or off course. And even before that? Being wrong just means we have been doing something that doesn’t support us in being our best selves, in living our best lives. The only way to get it right is to get it wrong- a whole bunch in some cases- and work our way to what is right. Being wrong is human. Being honest with ourselves is powerful.
Only you know what you need to change and only you can change it. Decide on that one or more things. Even something seemingly small will impact your whole life. Get the right attitude about resolutions and make it work for you this year! Don’t use the word resolution if you don’t want to – use something else like intention or goal. It is the spirit that counts more than anything else.
What do you want to create in 2023? How do you want to do it?
Happy New Year to you!
