This idea has me really excited….one small positive change can create a cascade of other positive changes in my life.
I believe that if you want to bring some fresh energy into your life, it is as easy as that! If you want to experience even more life in your life, reinventing something will be a powerful act for you. I have seen it in my own life and in the lives of my clients over and over again.
After really studying closely for the last two years the idea of what is vital, what is important, what really matters. I have come to realize that even though I love to pay attention to people doing grandiose things and they inspire me to think bigger, that a consistent, positive change that a person is devoted to can create some real magic.
It is important to note that for a change of any size to take hold the person making the change must strongly identify the reason for the change and the outcome they envision. How will this make a positive impact in my life, and then through me to the lives of others?
When I read about other people’s lives I can start to think I have to make all of these grand moves and overhauls in my life in order to create a better life. Most of us are not in a position to do that. The world of reinvention has taught me that putting more life into your life in any amount will move energy to the positive. I have mentioned before and will again here- reinvention isn’t about dumping everything out and starting from scratch. You will discern what to keep, what to drop and what to add.
This week we are focusing on add. With spring energy on our side, with things blooming all around us- Mother Nature is busy adding all around us. Harness this energy to tweak your life with one small step.
Here are a few ideas:
-Check the bookends of your day. I was recently working with a great group and one of their assignments was to change something they are doing in the morning before work or at night before bed- or both. Not to change everything, but to change something.
-Decide to start thinking more before speaking and posting. Consider who is worthy of your information. Make a new rule for yourself. (I don’t love rules, but I do love the ones I make for myself!)
-Decide not to let minor annoyances bother you- okay this is a big one, one I have been working on myself- how could you take one step toward this, knowing it will bring increased serenity and room for more happiness to come in? They take so much energy and usually do not matter!
-Move toward staying positive and less dramatic in stressful situations. (again life giving because drama and negativity drain us.)
-Reading for a certain amount of time each day- put into your schedule.
-Ask for help on something you are stuck on and move it forward.
-Take a first step toward doing something you have been afraid to do, then take the next step and the next.
-Write out the things that are bothering you and then shred it up.
-Take a course or read a book that amplifies something you want to bring into your life.
-Create a new habit during the day that energizes you. This week I am starting to drink bone broth instead of reaching for a sugary snack in the afternoons. For some of my clients this one has meant actually stopping for lunch! One client now goes for a walk every day at lunch time and it has totally energized the second half of his day. And he solves a lot of problems while out walking!
Admittedly, this is a really random, wide swinging list of possibilities. That is on purpose to get you thinking that your one small tweak can be absolutely anything, as long as it will ultimately have a positive impact on your life. Get creative? What will yours be? Commit to it for the rest of the year. I’d love to hear about what you choose- let me know by leaving a comment!
